Hi I am Rick, UK Plumber, and I specialize on Boiler problems, the gas fire front and the back boiler use a common flue so you would only be able use a fire front from the same manufacturer, if you want a solid fuel stove then that is all you can put in that fire place/flue, you can install a combi boiler but I would advise caution in this respect, if your water supply is not able to run more than one tap at full flow then this is what you will get with a combi, one tap open in the whole house, and no reserve supply if the water is interrupted in the road, Rick I managed to fire up the boiler manually on the 31st jan 2013, it ran off the timer until it didn't fire on Morning of 3rd Feb 2013.
