Having read all the posts I agree with Barry and Barry F that if you take all the associated costs into account then electricity is a viable cost effective alternative to gas. Yes, and there is no doubt that the new pipework is 'correct' because all of the new rads get very hot and all of the rads which were on the existing system but are now that much 'further away' from the combi boiler (because of the new long pipes inserted in the new link) but it takes so much time. In my first commissioning test the system ran for over half an hour on max temp setting (30deg) before the last new rad got hot. My idea is to speed that up by inserting a circulation booster - unless there is a reason not to, on a combi boiler system. (I'm a DIYer, not a plumber, but have installed pipework and rads on a couple of occasions over the years).
